Donna L. King, Higginsville

Donna L. King, 60, of Higginsville, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Lafayette Regional Health Center.


 She was born Sep. 6, 1947, in Marshall, a daughter of Don L. and Lucille Hughes King.


She was born with cerebral palsy. During her childhood, she was one of five children in Sedalia with this condition.


At the time, schools did not have resources to assist children with special needs, so the parents of these five children banded together to rent a large house to help educate them. She was one of the first at this house that was later to become The Children’s Therapy Center.
She lived most of her life at the Higginsville Habilitation Center.


 Also surviving are her mother, of Laurie; and a sister, Debra Salisbury, of Sunrise Beach.


She was predeceased by her father.


Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Jim Stovall officiating. There will be no visitation.
