Roy E. McAllister, Hot Springs, Ark.

Roy E. McAllister, 91, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Leeton, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at National Park Hospital Center in Hot Springs.

He was born Dec. 1, 1916, in Henry County, a son of Edward Mark and Lila Elizabeth Winton McAllister. On June 11, 1937, in Windsor, he was married to Anna Lorraine Swisher, who died Nov. 21, 1986. On June 26, 1993, in Hot Springs, he was married to Geraldine Duncan, who survives of the home.

He worked at the Windsor International Shoe Factory and Warrensburg Town & Country Shoe Factory. Before he retired, he worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 25 years.

He served in the Marines during World War II. He was a member of the Leeton Masonic Lodge 274 and the Christian church in Hot Springs.

Also surviving are a son, Jerry W. McAllister, of Leeton; five daughters, Carol Ann Smith, of Leeton, Barbara Joyce Reilly and Judy Jett, both of Warrensburg, Mary H. Varner, of Lee’s Summit, and Sheryl Kay Brooks, of Blue Springs; two stepsons, Gary Duncan, of Pleasant Hill, and Randy Duncan, of Hot Springs; a sister, Ethel Barnett, of Tipton; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two daughters, Karen Lee Rainen and a stillborn daughter; five brothers, Jim, Harry, Fred, Robert and Ralph McAllister; two sisters, Fern McAllister and Lily Doss; a grandson, Derek Smith; and a great-grandson, Caleb Ward.

Masonic services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Leeton. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be at 11:30 at Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, with the Rev. Derek L. Duncan officiating.
