Fox helps keep electorate informed

I have chosen to reply to Nancy Kirby’s letter about Fox News with a paragraph from a document of which she is apparently unfamiliar. I quote the first Amendment of the U.S. Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press …”

Freedom of the press was not intended to merely inform the public about the nearest garage sale, but rather to inform people, in a representative republic, about what their government is doing for them, or as is the case of this administration, to them. A well-informed electorate is essential to the preservation of our liberty. An administration which refuses to explain itself or its actions to any news outlet, including Fox, is an administration dangerous to our republic.

Kirby did not express her dissatisfaction with Fox when they scrutinized the Bush administration nor is she apparently offended that the CEO of General Electric (parent company of NBC and MSNBC) is an advisor to Barack Obama. I guess she thinks there is no bias there. Through dissenting opinion, the truth is usually found. Those who are afraid of the truth may choose to get their news elsewhere. But for now, provided Obama does not get his way, I can choose Fox.

Furthermore, the media is unable to destroy the Obama administration, only Obama and his fourth unelected branch of government (czars) can fall victim to the truth. I am not accusing the president of lying. He has made it abundantly clear that he is a socialist and does not believe in the exceptionalism or sovereignty of the United States.
