Clarence A. Kullman, Springfield
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Clarence August Kullman, 97, of Springfield, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008.
He was born Feb. 7, 1911, in Benton County, a son of August and Mary Kullman.
He lived on the family farm in Lincoln, when he was young. He lived at Jenny Lind Hall in Springfield for 30 years and later at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a heavy truck driver serving from 1942 to 1945. He participated in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He received two bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal. He earned ribbons for the American Theater and European African Middle Eastern Theater campaigns. He also received five overseas bars and a victory ribbon.
After the war, he was a feed truck driver for MFA in Lincoln. In 1956, he transferred to MFA in Springfield and was a mill hand. He retired in the 1970s.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing and hunting.
Surviving are a brother, Henry, of Lincoln; two nephews, Allen Kullman, of Billings, and Kent Kullman, of Lincoln; and four nieces, Barbara Coffey, Karen Gruhn, Reatha Owens and Jeanette Kullman, all of Lincoln.
He was predeceased by an older brother, Edward.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, with military rites under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
