Leon N. “Bud” Grose, Sedalia

Leon N. “Bud” Grose, 81, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Sedalia, a son of Andrew N. and Ola Inselman Grose. On May 24, 1947, in Atchison, Kan., he was married to Mable E. Earley, who died July 9, 2004.

He was raised and educated in Sedalia and was a 1944 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He was a car painter for the Missouri Kansas and Texas Railroad Shops. He went on to work for MFA and later as a driver for Ditzfeld Transfer. He enjoyed working on old cars.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Boyer, and her husband, Jerry, of Ionia; three granddaughters, Jeri Owens, of Green Ridge, Janie Harper, of Sedalia, and Janet Miller, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by two sisters, Berniece Ditzfeld and Opal Wasson.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Highland Sacred Gardens, with the Rev. George Thomas officiating. Pallbearers will be Henry Twyman, Frank Lefevers, Donnie Ditzfeld, David Neill, Ron Ditzfeld and Steve Ditzfeld. Honorary pallbearers will be Yancey Miller, David Harper, Jeffrey Owens and Jake Owens.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
