Gordon D. Moore, Gravois Mills
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Gordon D. Moore, 77, of Gravois Mills, died Monday, March 24, 2008, in Gravois Mills.
He was born May 8, 1930, in Carver, a son of Keith and Eula Calfee Moore. On May 25, 1948, he was married to Louise Chamberlain, who died Aug. 23, 1994.
He was a truck driver and a real estate broker. Most recently, he farmed and hauled gravel. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, camping, hunting, being outdoors, metal detecting and fishing.
He was known as the “Missouri Drifter.” He took great pride in being a native of Gravois Mills.
Surviving are two sons, Lyman Moore, and his wife, Helen, and Kenneth Moore, all of Gravois Mills; four daughters, Brenda Self, and her husband, Chuck, and Sheila Yoder, and her husband, Terry, all of Versailles, Karen Snelling, of Springfield, and Teresa Roe, and her husband, Roy, of Jefferson City; his special friend, Helen Dixon, of Eldon; three brothers, Dale Marriott, Danny Marriott, and Brad Marriott, all of Excelsior Springs; two sisters, Claudene Moore Parman and Fern Marriott Miller, both of Excelsior Springs; 15 grandchildren, Melinda Klein, Kali Kliethermes, Kaysi Snelling, Katie Lewis, Michelle Lutz, Tanner Moore, Abbey Clark, Jennifer Buckingham, Heather Woolery, Jeffery Fields, Olivia Fields, Emily Yoder, Justin Yoder, Cory Yoder and Becca Yoder; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Keith and Gertie Moore; his mother, Eula Marriott; two grandchildren, Brandon Daniels and Keith Moore; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Dr. Todd Forman officiating. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online at www.kidwellgarber.com.
