Marshall N. Morgan, Sabetha, Kan.
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Marshall Neil Morgan, 77, of Sabetha, Kan., formerly of Wetmore, Kan., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, after a long battle with lung disease.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1930, at Circleville, Kan., a son of Charles Lee and Carrie V. Moore Morgan. He was married to Jeanene L. Morgan, who died earlier.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Wetmore, Kansas. He had worked in payroll accounting and as a cashier in the Navy, as a teacher for the Oregon State University, and in zoning investigation for the City of San Diego He was a member of the VFW, NRA, FRA, American Legion Post 282 and Wetmore Lions Club.
He served his country honorably in the Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring after more than 20 years of service.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Bob and Jane Morgan of Holton, Kan; and several cousins, Bob and June Carson of Wetmore, Kan.; Ray and Jean Hamlin, Jack and Gayle Hamlin, and Jim and Donna Hamlin, all of St. Joseph.
He was also predeceased by four sisters, Rose M. Diggs, Virginia Morgan, Babe Elmore and Nina Joan Jackson; and five brothers, John W. Morgan, Ralph Edward Morgan, Charles Morgan, Clinton Morgan and Lawrence Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Wetmore, with the Rev. Morgan Whitaker officiating. Pallbearers will be his friends. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Union-Williams Cemetery in Cole Camp, with the Rev. Morgan Whitaker officiating with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to United Methodist Church of Wetmore or Union-Williams Cemetery in Cole Camp, in care of Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.
