Sedline for Nov. 12-13
“Now that the hunting season is here, I hope that the paper will not print any of the pictures of these little 6-, 7-, 8-year-olds holding their guns and sitting next to the deer or turkeys they have killed. It is very depressing to see these little tiny kids participating in an activity that should only be for adults.”
“Let’s give thanks to God for our many brave veterans who have fought to keep America free, and to our brave forefathers who gave their all to establish a free America. Your heroism reaches around the world to take care of those less fortunate than we. Vote to keep America free and a Christian nation under almighty God.”
“There was an ad for a new dentist in town a few weeks ago in the Democrat. I can’t find him. Is there a phone number you could put in Sedline? I’d appreciate it.” (Dr. Rob Davis, 660-473-4764)
“When will Sedalia manufacturers wake up? You get what you pay for. When using temporary services, you get temporary help. You sure pass on a lot of good employees.”
“What is it Sedalia people do not understand about the city ordinance to not blow or rake your leaves into the street? It would be neat to rake leaves next to the curb and burn them, but that is not an option. Obey the law, please.”
“Well, somebody was asking me what does that all mean?”
“The drug Propofol that Conrad Murray (Michael Jackson’s doctor) ordered in large quantities, a total of 40 gallons, was delivered to his girlfriend’s apartment. Why would a drug manufacturer deliver this drug to an apartment, when it is only supposed to be used in a hospital and be 100 percent monitored? ... I would like someone to pursue this.”
“I would like to see ‘Beetle Bailey’ taken out of your funnies. I think it is a poor example for children to see someone in the military jump on somebody else and treat them as poorly as he does.”
“Did anyone else besides me and a couple of my friends feel the earthquake (on Nov. 5)?”
“If the Sedalia school district has a no-tolerance policy on bullying, why does it always take for the parents to get into it to stop the bullying? Sedalia, too sad. Smithton, too bad.”
“I was sorry to see in the paper where Helping Hands was closing, we need all the charity organizations we can get. But I know for a fact there have been two different charities ... and when I called these, I talked with someone and they were supposed to get back with me and neither time did they. I think it is important that these people follow through on stuff if they really want to have volunteers and donations and help with their charities.”
“I am so tired of seeing all these bricks across from the train station. It is so ugly. How long is it going to take to get rid of them? If it was my house, you’d have moved them and taxed me twice the money.”
“It would be interesting to know how the state fair attendance is compiled, and why it takes so long to come up with the total.”
“Why don’t we just close all the bars and taverns and get back to prohibition, hide at home and drink your liquor? There’s got to be an answer besides trying to stop drunk driving. I haven’t heard of a death since I don’t know when from somebody driving drunk. I don’t condone drunk driving, however a bouncer, a bar manager should assist someone if they see them that drunk and get them a ride home. ... That’s the answer.”
“Thank you to the person or persons who cleaned up the memory gardens and Otterville school. It looks great.”
“I think consideration should be given to having SFCC begin a volleyball program. Judging by the newspaper, we have several area high schools that could provide a lot of the players.”
“Since the majority of Sedalia Democrat’s readers voted in disapproval of getting rid of anonymous comments ... will the Democrat once again allow anonymous comments?”
“I just read Richard Parkhurst’s (Thursday) column, and I took it as a lot of bragging for the social elite in Sedalia.”
