Sedline for Nov. 26-27
“If we get a paper on (Thanksgiving) or Friday, could you not put in the foreclosures for a change? That would be something to really be thankful for. It’s really depressing to see those constantly.”
“There is nothing worse than a hypocrite, or just a downright know-it-all. Too bad they didn’t have the opportunity to serve in Vietnam, or any military service, to say the least.”
“I’ve been with my wife for 22 years, and I just wanted to say ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ and ‘I love you, sweetheart.’ ”
“Well, not to be a Grinch or anything but ... there’s always a concern for fire safety, but ... it seems like on Black Friday all the safety goes out the window. I just don’t understand that. I don’t understand how people could have gotten out in an orderly fashion.”
“In response to today’s Sedline, I’m one of those people who uses two or three parking spots for my car because the newer it is, the more likely everyone else is to door-ding it and abuse it. If people would treat other people’s property with respect, they wouldn’t have to do that. That’s the only means I have to protect what I have.”
“I want to mention ... our big billboard (east of the city on U.S. 50) welcoming people to Sedalia. It’s almost faded out totally white, and it is sad to see that. I am proud of our town and I know our citizens are, and that is just a letdown for people who are coming through or to Sedalia who are not part of our community. I would like to see a new billboard put up.”
“Somebody took the stop signs down on Shotgun Road out here in La Monte.”
“Do you think Chelsea Clinton’s position with NBC is a political move? Sounds like it to me.”
“Well, Dale (McFeatters, Well Said, Nov. 21), where have you been for decades? The elite rich always come out smelling like a rose, and perhaps Chelsea just has more to offer. Either way, it has always been that way, get over it.”
“You are taking a poll on what everyone thinks about kids going out and killing deer and having their pictures in the paper. First of all, the poll will not be accurate, as a lot of people ... are not on the Internet, so they can’t vote. That is why I am calling Sedline. Kids will do most anything to get their picture in the newspaper. It’s very sad that small kids can get their hands on these lethal weapons, much less their parents promoting this type of behavior.”
“Things must really be good for McDonald’s if they only take one order per car. Must be nice to be able to turn business away.”
“With regard to the salaries at the courthouse, I think the commissioners’ salaries are too high, considering they are just part time. Also, (Prosecuting Attorney Jeff) Mittelhauser’s salary is quite high; he has a large staff to help him.”
“Republicans have been united for almost 20 years in opposition to higher taxes on the upper class and big business, while Democrats have fought for programs like Social Security and Medicare. Would somebody tell why anyone would ever vote Republican? I just don’t understand it.”
“We thoroughly enjoy the movies shown at the Galaxy theater. If there are some movies we prefer not to see, we feel we always have another choice. It’s a good entertainment for the whole family.”
“I am sick of Sedline’s liberal attitude, afraid to print (comments) about how police beat up Wall Street protesters and pepper spray college students in California. I guess you so-called Americans enjoy seeing students with no jobs or future as long as you have your precious reporting jobs.”
“I want to be a U.S. Supreme Court justice. They only work three hours a day.”
“I just heard a good joke ... You know, you know, ha, ha, ha.”
“I wonder how the (Kansas University) football team would fare if they left the Big 12 for the MIAA. Go Mules!”
“If there is any elderly person in Sedalia who needs false teeth and cannot afford them, I believe we need to start a committee to create a special funding program.”
