Nov. 20 Police Reports

•Scott Pinkepank was arrested Wednesday on a charge of failing to make child support payments, according to Pettis County Sheriff's Department reports.

•Steven R. Bartlett, 31, of Stover, was arrested at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of West Broadway Boulevard on a charge of second-degree domestic assault, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

Thefts
•Jo Ann Kirchhoff, of Sweet Springs, reported Wednesday her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was in the 100 block of West Sixth Street, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

•An employee of McGraths, 2901 W. Broadway Blvd., reported Wednesday the lock was broken off the restaurant’s grease pit between Sunday and Monday and 30 to 60 gallons of used grease was stolen, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

Vehicle Fire
Officers received a call about a vehicle fire in the 1500 block of East Ninth Street just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to Sedalia Police Department reports. It appears the fire was set intentionally in the driver’s seat. James Johnson, of 1508 E. Ninth Street, is the vehicle owner.

Burglary
•Brian Eager, of 25612 Highway BB in Houstonia, reported Tuesday someone forcibly entered his home and stole property, according to Pettis County Sheriff’s Department reports.

•Gary Shull, of Sedalia, reported Wednesday a home he owns at 1209 S. Harrison Ave., was burglarized, but he was unsure if anything was stolen, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

Hit and Run

•Robyn Tripp, of Sedalia, reported Tuesday her van was struck while it was parked at Fair View Nursing Home and the driver left, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

•Peter Strauch, of 1011 W. Third St., reported Tuesday he saw a maroon mini-van strike the rear bumper of his car as the van made a U-turn, and the driver left, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

Smoking paraphernalia
What is your opinion on the law prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernalia, including small water pipes or glass pipes?
Because the majority of these items are sold for smoking illegal substances, the law should ban them all.
The law that prohibits the sale of these items if the seller knows they will be used for drugs is too vague and should be repealed.
People should be able to buy whatever smoking paraphernalia they wish.
Police officers should find a better way to spend their time than arresting people for violating these types of laws.
The law is the law, and as long as it’s on the books, police officers should enforce it.
