Police raid Fav Trip; drug lab to test evidence

Sedalia Democrat

A Sedalia business is still open despite a drug sting that occurred there Monday.

Fav Trip, 216 W. Broadway Blvd., was selling multiple drug paraphernalia devices and synthetic cannabis, according to the Sedalia Police Department. However until lab test results come back, the owner will not be charged.

According to reports, after receiving several tips from customers, the SPD STING Unit conducted a search warrant for marijuana paraphernalia at the gas station. Among the items found were glass pipes used for marijuana, crack cocaine and methamphetamine; marijuana joint and cigar paraphernalia; synthetic cannabis including K3, Spice and Incense; and digital scales. Officers also seized glass pipes disguised as ink pens and vials containing mini roses.

“Two undercover transactions were also made,” said Sedalia Police Chief John DeGonia. “In one instance, officers bought a grinder which is used to separate stems and seeds from the marijuana leaves.”

Reports indicate during these purchases, references to illegal drugs were also made.

“We sent the K3 and other synthetic marijuana to a lab for testing,” DeGonia said. “When we get the results back, we’ll pass it on to the city prosecutor who will then make formal charges.”

DeGonia said the lab results could take up to a month to be completed and it’s up to the City Council to decide if the gas station’s business license should be revoked.
