Delaware nation begins project

The first of nine American Indian symbols to be painted for a permanent exhibit will be completed and interpreted on Saturday at Van Meter State Park, near Miami, Mo. The program will begin at 10 a.m. at the American Indian Cultural Center at the park.
Mike and Donna Watkins, from the Delaware Nation in Oklahoma, will be the first artists to paint a symbol on a large bison hide.
The park is 12 miles northwest of Marshall on state Route 122. For more information, call the park at (660) 886-7537.
