Park on your own property

Some time ago, the subject came up about folks parking in the yard of their residence.

Recently I learned from Mayor Elaine Horn and Public Works Director Bill Beck that folks parked cars on the snow route on the different streets, so that if we have a two-inch snow storm they would be ticketed.

All of the above could be corrected if the owners and landlords would supply a parking place in the side of their property or use the alley in back of their residence.

If the mayor and our council and Beck would look at almost every one of these residences, they would find that there is a place for parking off the streets. Lots of the cars parked on Grand and Kentucky and other streets have ample parking on the property.

I was informed in a letter from Beck the reason we don’t have street markings is because if we crossed the center line of a street where a car was parked we would be fined. I just want to save money for the city by letting property owners and rentals know they need to have provided proper parking on their land, not the city streets.
