Sept. 4 Police Reports

Kevin A. Murray, 27, of Springfield, was arrested at 11:07 p.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard on a charge of violation of a full order of protection, according to Sedalia Police Department reports. He was in Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of charges.

Forgery
An employee of Break Time, 318 W. Broadway Blvd., reported Thursday a man attempted to use a stolen check at the business, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

Burglary
Aracely Alvarez, of 701 W. Fourth St., reported Wednesday her home was burglarized and two pairs of ostrich skin boots, a jewelry box containing five gold rings and three gold necklaces, two bicycles, four pairs of high heel shoes, two lamps, a cutting board and three knives were stolen, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

Property Damage
•Caroline Clancy, of 1706 Honda Road, reported Wednesday her vehicle window was broken while it was parked in the 400 block of West Broadway Boulevard, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

•Scott Linsenbardt, of 341 Suburban Lane, reported Wednesday an art sculpture at the Katy Depot was damaged, according to Sedalia Police Department reports. He estimated the cost to fix the sculpture at $300.

•Rachel Vieth, of 4206 S. Kentucky Ave., reported Wednesday her vehicle was scratched twice while it was parked in the 1000 block of South Massachusetts Avenue, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

Smoking paraphernalia
What is your opinion on the law prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernalia, including small water pipes or glass pipes?
Because the majority of these items are sold for smoking illegal substances, the law should ban them all.
The law that prohibits the sale of these items if the seller knows they will be used for drugs is too vague and should be repealed.
People should be able to buy whatever smoking paraphernalia they wish.
Police officers should find a better way to spend their time than arresting people for violating these types of laws.
The law is the law, and as long as it’s on the books, police officers should enforce it.
