QUILTERS INVITED TO ATTEND
CHRISTMAS IN JULY PROGRAM

The Donald C. Proctor Library at State Fair Community College will sponsor a free program called “Christmas in July for Quilters” at 6:30  tonight in Room 193 of the library on campus.
The program is designed for both beginners and advanced quilters and will feature ideas for quilted gift items. Participants are welcome to bring quilted items they have made or received to share with the group.

TRAMPLED UNDER FOOT
TO ROCK BROADWAY LANES

Trampled Under Foot will return to Broadway Lanes at 9 p.m. Friday at 2119 W. Broadway Blvd.
Admission is $5. People must be 21 and older to attend.

SPECIAL VIEWING SET TO SEE
MUSIC FESTIVAL FOOTAGE

Due to public interest in the Ozark Music Festival exhibit, a special viewing of rare video footage of the festival will be shown from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Katy Depot, 600 E. Third St.
Ozark Mountain Daredevil bassist Michael ‘Supe’ Granda will be on hand to sign copies of his book, “It Shined — The Saga of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.” The book tells about the highs and lows the band has experienced.
“Seventies Flashback: A Look Back at the July 1974 Ozark Music Festival,” will be on display at the depot until Dec. 31.
The depot is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The cost to view the exhibit is $1 per person.

MEMORIAL POWWOW
BEGINS ON FRIDAY

The Robert Woolery Sr. Memorial Pow-wow will be Friday through Sunday in the Agriculture Building at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.
The event will feature Native American dancing and food. Arts and crafts will be available for purchase.
Dances will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, 1, 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Rosco Conklin is the head singer, Danny Soto is the head man dancer and Maria Two Hatchets is the head lady dancer. Roger Crane is the arena director.

NELSON-ATKINS TO HOST
TWO WEEKEND PROGRAMS

KANSAS CITY — The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art will host two programs this weekend.
Curator Catherine Futter will discuss furnishings and decorative objects produced in America between 1776 and 1826 from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Great Hall and Hooper Hall.
A family day in the park will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday near the Shuttlecocks exhibit in Kansas City Sculpture Park. Stone Lion Puppet Theatre will present “A Picnic for the Planet.” This event also features hands-on activities, family tours and live music. Families are invited to bring their own picnic lunch.
In the event of inclement weather, performances and activities will move indoors.
The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

VAN METER PARK TO HOST
INDIAN BEADWORK WORKSHOP

MIAMI, Mo. — Van Meter State Park will have a program and workshop on how to do American Indian beadwork at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the American Indian Cultural Center at the park.
This program may be used to satisfy the requirements to become a Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites Explorer.

NORTHEAST MISSOURI
CELEBRATES WITH FAIR

KIRKSVILLE — The Northeast Missouri Fair is happening now through Saturday. Daily admission is $15 at the gate. Season passes cost $45 at the gate. Children 5 and younger are admitted free.
Today’s events include a 4-H/FFA Breeding Swine Show at 8 a.m.; children’s games and contest at 4 p.m. near the poultry barn; top cut saw mill from 4 to 8 p.m.; super farmer contest at 5 p.m. at the grandstand; carnival rides from 5 to 11 p.m.; celebrity livestock stock and horseshoe pitching tournament, both at 6 p.m., and a bull ride at 8 p.m. in the grandstand.
On Friday, the Open PeeWee Livestock Show will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the livestock arena; the 4-H/FFA Goat Show will begin at 10 a.m.; children’s games and contests at 4 p.m.; carnival rides at 5 p.m.; and the IAMO Truck and Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. in the grandstand.
On Saturday, the 4-H/FFA buyers and sellers luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the livestock arena; 4-H/FFA awards at 12:30 p.m.; 4-H/FFA premium livestock sale at 1 p.m.; carnival opens at 3 p.m.; grand championships of the horseshoe pitching tournament at 6 p.m.; and the demolition derby at 7 p.m. at the grandstand.

TO PERFORM AT COUNTY FAIR

TROY — The Lincoln County Fair will be tonight through Saturday at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
Today’s admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children 3 to 12. Admission on Friday and Saturday is $20 for adults and $6 for children.
Activities happening today are a jackpot steer show at 11 a.m.; dock dogs big air waves three and four at 6 and 7:30 p.m.; junior livestock auction at 6:30 p.m.; bounce house, castle maze, laser tag, bungee run, children’s obstacle course, velcro wall and octopus crawl will be open from 6 to 10 p.m.; juggler Josh Roush will perform from 7 to 10 p.m.; open western pleasure horse show at 7 p.m.; and karoake from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.  in the beer garden.
On Friday, the junior and open breeding swine show begins at 1 p.m.; junior and open breeding cattle show at 3 p.m.; dock dogs speed retrieve at 5 p.m.; carnival opens at 6 p.m.; dock dogs extreme vertical at 6 p.m.; mule jump and fun show at 6:30 p.m.; wool lead line at 6:45 p.m.; NTPA, ECMO Tractor/Truck Pull at 7 p.m.; demolition derby at 7 p.m.; and dock dogs big air wave five at 7:30 p.m.; Rickie Lee Tanner will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight in the beer garden.
On Saturday, the junior and open breeding sheep show begins at 9 a.m.; barbecue cook-off at 11 a.m.; frog and turtle races at 11 a.m.; dock dogs big air wave six at 11 a.m.; carnival opens at 1 p.m.; dock dogs big air wave seven at 1 p.m.; kiddie tractor pull at 1 p.m.; watermelon contest at 2:30 p.m.; dock dogs finals at 2:30 p.m.; greased pig and calf scramble at 4 p.m.; demolition derby at 7 p.m.; Steve Carbitty Magian from 7 to 10 p.m.; Aaron Tippin at 7:30 p.m. at the main stage; Coming Up Empty from 8 p.m. to midnight in the beer garden; and Blake Shelton at 9 p.m. on the main stage.

FRINGE FESTIVAL
KICKS OFF SUNDAY

KANSAS CITY — The KC Fringe Festival — now in its fifth year — is jam-packed with live theater, dance, performance art, visual art, spoken word, puppetry, storytelling and film and fashion. This year’s festival will be Sunday through July 26 in downtown Kansas City.
