Students receive college degrees

The following colleges recently announced students who receive degrees from the spring semester.

Columbia College, spring day graduates
June Meyers, of Green Ridge, graduated summa cum laude. She received a bachelor of arts degree in American studies.
Lindsey D. Vogt, of Versailles, graduated magna cum laude. She received a bachelor of science in mathematics.

Columbia College, Lake of the Ozarks graduates
Zack Hess, of Barnett, graduated cum laude and received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration.
Andrea VanHooser, of Barnett, received an associate of science in nursing.
Mary Fox, of Versailles, received a bachelor of arts in psychology.

Columbia College, evening and online graduates
Michael George, of Bunceton, received a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
Kevin Maxwell, of Concordia, received an associate of general studies.
Caycee J. Hodges, of Pilot Grove, received an associate of science in criminal justice.
John S. Davis Jr., of Sedalia, received a bachelor of science in business administration.
Julie A. Kinder, of Versailles, received a bachelor of arts in criminal justice.

Culver-Stockton College, Canton
Kyle M. Hayward, of Cole Camp, received a bachelor of science in criminal justice.

Westminster College, Fulton
Jennifer Elaine Roehrs, of Sedalia, graduated summa cum laude. She received degrees in biology and chemistry.

Rockhurst University, Kansas City
Brennan Ransdell, of Otterville, received a master of education.
Leoncio P. Perez, of Sedalia, received a bachelor of science in business administration.
Andrew Griner, of Windsor, received a master of occupational therapy.

University of Iowa — Iowa City
Rhiannon L. Dickerson, of Sedalia, received a master of fine arts in English.

Linn State Technical College
Cody Burker, of Barnett, received a certificate of proficiency for heavy equipment operations.
Mark Clemons, of Marshall, received an associate of applied science in automotive collision technology.
Austin Jaco, of Marshall, received a certificate of proficiency in automotive collision technology and refinishing and non-structural repair.
Trenton Knifong, of Warsaw, received an associate of applied science in heavy equipment technology and is a CAT dealer service technician.

Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla
Victor G. Smith, of Sweet Springs, graduated cum laude. He received a bachelor of science in nuclear engineering. He is the son of Victor G. Smith and Janet E. Smith.

Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville
Michelle Hensley, of Marshall, received a bachelor of science in education, with an emphasis in social science.
Ashli Pugh, of Sedalia, graduated cum laude. She received a bachelor of science in elementary education.
Caleb Dohrman, of Sweet Springs, received a bachelor of science in animal science.
Robin Bonar, of Versailles, received a bachelor of science in office information systems.

Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan.
James Gaunt, of Sedalia, graduated cum laude. He received a bachelor of science.

Central Methodist University, Fayette
Cortney Adams, of Sedalia, received a bachelor of science in early childhood education.

College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout
David Klein, of Sedalia, received a bachelor’s degree in aviation science. He is a 2003 home-school graduate.
Timothy Conroy, of La Monte, received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion. He is a 2004 graduate of Lowry City Christian School.

Smoking paraphernalia
What is your opinion on the law prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernalia, including small water pipes or glass pipes?
Because the majority of these items are sold for smoking illegal substances, the law should ban them all.
The law that prohibits the sale of these items if the seller knows they will be used for drugs is too vague and should be repealed.
People should be able to buy whatever smoking paraphernalia they wish.
Police officers should find a better way to spend their time than arresting people for violating these types of laws.
The law is the law, and as long as it’s on the books, police officers should enforce it.
