Girl Scout cookie blitz ready to begin
Just when the kitchen cupboards and freezer have been cleared of holiday sweets, along comes the annual Girl Scout cookie blitz. More than 1,000 cases of cookies arrived Wednesday at Camp Sacajawea, with 966 cases slated for pickup by various Girl Scout troops and the rest held for booth and Cookie Cupboard sales. Charlotte Scholl, the cookie stationmaster, center, helps Sandra Shepherd, left, and Amy Elvers, Scout leaders with Junior Cadet Troop 30104, load 183 cases of cookies. The eight variety of cookies will be on sale in front of Walmart, 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and in front of Bing’s on South Limit Avenue, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Scholl said. She has also set up a Cookie Cupboard at her home on South Quincy Avenue for cookie purchases, noon to 8 p.m. She can be reached at 827-5851 for more information on weekend sales locations scheduled through March 12.
