Fred A. Guffin, Sedalia
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Fred Andrew Guffin, 65, of Sedalia, died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born Aug. 30, 1942, in Kansas City, a son of Claire R. and Hazel Brown Guffin.
He was raised and educated in Marshall. He moved to Sedalia and was a 1960 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He was an equipment operator for Howard Construction for several years. He then was a warehouse supervisor at Inter-State Studio. He retired in 2007. He enjoyed Nascar. He liked spending time outdoors and being with friends and family.
Surviving are two sons, Bryon A. Guffin, and his wife, April, of Sweet Springs, and Craig R. Guffin, and his wife, Sue, of Sedalia; two daughters, Anna R. “Shelley” Lowry and Marla S. Helms, both of Kilgore, Texas; a brother, John Guffin, of Sedalia; a sister, Gale Chevalier, of Miami, Mo.; his longtime companion, Virginia Faye Hughes, of Sedalia; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Robert Lawrence Guffin.
Graveside services will be at noon Saturday at Crown Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral chapel.
