Sedline for Sept. 27
“I feel the City Council or someone should take action to see that Banjo’s remains in Sedalia. They provide a service that benefits most everyone in the Sedalia area. ... If donations would help, count me in.”
“It is a shame and a disgrace that our city officials decided, without consulting the surivivors of Irel Adams, to change the name of Adams Road to ProEnergy Boulevard. Perhaps we voters should change the names of our city officials by removing them from office.”
“Something is wrong with this picture: Funding is cut for schools in the community and we pay for two teachers at Parkview Elementary alone to teach English to speakers of other languages. Surely we have more important things that need to be funded.”
“Richard Parkhurst’s (commentaries) are beginning to be real ‘tale’-draggers, just like his plane.”
“The best sales clerk in Sedalia is Betty at Walgreen’s.”
“Thank you to Sword’s Pharmacy for supplying newspapers to the hospital. My father looked forward the paper, especially Sunday’s, when he recently had surgery.”
“How come everyone was so outraged when (Rep.) Joe Wilson said (President Barack Obama) was a liar and he had to apologize ... yet it is OK for our president call someone on TV (Kanye West) a jackass. Where is the outrage there and the apology?”
“I am confused ... It’s not OK to display an image of a scientific theory on T-shirts that had already been purchased, but it is OK to display a statue donated by a representative of a religious organization identifying itself on the statue, in a district that claims to take a neutral stance on religion.”
“I see (Rep.) Ike Skelton has been voting present on quite a few bills here lately. He is either following in the footsteps of Barack Obama, or he is afraid to go against Barack Obama. Either way, he needs to be reminded that, come election time, he can be voted out.”
“Now that the Democrats are going to put through a health care bill, the Republicans are saying, ‘Oh, we have this many and that many and oh, blah, blah, blah.’ Well, where were they for the past eight years? Why didn’t they do anything about health care plans before?”
“I would like to compliment the girls at the deli at Bing’s East.”
“OK, you started, now let’s see if you finish it. The
ordinance on dilapidated houses needs to be enforced inside and out. The mayor or council needs to go check out some properties that are being rented for twice what they are worth. Would any one of them live in something like that?”
“My problem is you can’t get blood out of a turnip. Such is the life of a landlord.”
