No wonder the McCain campaign and the Republicans don’t want a tax increase, especially on the wealthy. In fact, in 2006, Cindy McCain declared earnings of $6 million. She paid $1.5 million in taxes. In 2007, she earned $4 million, paying a little over $1 million in taxes. If I made $10 million in two years, I’d gladly give a lot more than a fourth of it to the government; I’d be glad to give three-fourths of it to the government.

To those who are so naive to believe that we were wanted or needed in Iraq, look what happened today as 50,000-plus Iraqi citizens protest the invasion of Iraq by U.S. troops and they burn effigies of George Bush and Condoleezza Rice. That shows how much they don’t want us in their country and they never did. Thank you George Bush for getting us in that mess.

In response to the person who was questioning why the County Commission was so concerned about the El Rancho Motel: it’s their job. They need to clean up the county for potential residences and businesses. The owners have been given too much leeway and time to clean up their property.

When I first voted for George Bush, I had only one factor on my mind, ending abortion. Why didn’t I look at the big picture? I’m 62 years old and I knew not to vote for anyone based on just one issue. I was like a horse wearing blinders. I had no wide vision. Look what’s happened to our country. This time, people, no matter who you vote for, please don’t make my past mistake. Look at everything the candidates stand for, not just abortion. I’ve learned from my own mistake.

Women with nose hair, yuk. You’ve got to know you have it. If not wake up and notice this gross neglect in your beauty routine. It’s a real turn-off. Ask your beautician to help you, or else go buy a nose trimmer. It might be OK for men, but definitely not for you ladies.

This message is to Christians about receiving God’s blessings in America. The three most important things — abortions, gay marriage and staying allied with Israel. Obama is for abortion; he’s for gay marriage; and he won’t stay a strong ally with Israel. On the other hand, McCain is against abortion, against gay marriage and we will stay a strong ally with Israel.

Kudos to the  parks Department for maintaining the parks so nicely this summer. Dog owners, when you take your dog to enjoy the park, please take a plastic bag with you and clean up their mess and deposit it in a trash barrel. It is not enjoyable to parents when they have to clean up their child after they stepped in this mess. This would be greatly appreciated by parents and children.

What can be done to help people pay their utility bill? I’m talking about lights and gas, to keep them from being shut off. There’s no agency in Sedalia that will pay a $200 bill.

Gas has gone down. Now when will groceries and transit go down? Come on America, pull together. Companies need to start a price war. Stop the greed.
