Sylvia Thompson residents observe birthdays in September

Cornelia Schuermann observed her 100th birthday on Wednesday.
She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Kansas City. She was married to Sherman Williams, who died earlier.
She was a housewife. She enjoys playing bingo and cards. She is known for being a great cook.
She has three children, William Daniel Jones, of Greensboro, S.C., Jerome Jones, of Florissant, and Jackie Stockwood, of Sedalia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Lora Ryan will observe her 87th birthday on Monday.
She was born Sept. 6, 1923. She is married to Kenneth Ryan, who also lives at the center.
She was a housewife and worked at Whiteman Air Force Base. She enjoyed working on the farm, cooking and sewing. She loves antiques.

Leo Bottcher will observe his 83rd birthday on Sept. 11.
He was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Florissant. He is married to Norma Bottcher, of Sedalia.
He was a heavy equipment operator for 42 years. He retired from Clarkson Construction Co. in Kansas City. He played in several country bands in surrounding areas for dances, shows, radio and television. He enjoyed his music and took pride in his yard. He enjoys spending time with his family.
He has three children, Joyce Anderson, of Lake City, Fla., Karen Zahringer, of Parker, Colo., and Jeanne Gordon, of Sedalia; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Raymond Vineyard will observe his 90th birthday on Sept. 20.
He was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Maries City. He was married to Velma Vineyard, who died earlier.
He was a farmer. He enjoys making wooden toys, peanut brittle and caramel popcorn.
He has a daughter, Marie Vanbebber, of Sedalia; and a grandchild.

Emmett “Russell” Martin will observe his 72nd birthday on Sept. 22.
He was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Idaho. He is married to Shirley Martin, who lives in Sedalia.
He worked in sales all of his life ranging from car sales, bakery sales, dairy milk, farm equipment and insurance. He was a past member of the Shrine Club and the Elks Lodge. He enjoys fishing, boating, hunting and playing golf.
He has five children, Carrie Core, of Phoenix, Terri McClelland, of San Antonio, Texas, Rusty Martin and David Martin, both of Denver, and Gerri Barnes, of Blue Springs; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Catherine Edwards will observe her 90th birthday on Sept. 22.
She was born Sept. 22, 1920, north of Sedalia. She was married to Paul Edwards, who died earlier.
She was an office superior for Metropolitan Life Insurance and a clerk and stenographer for Missouri Pacific. She enjoys playing bridge, collecting antiques and making people laugh.
She has a daughter, Paula Berryann, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a grandchild.

Olyn Rugen will observe his 92nd birthday on Sept. 27.
He was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Syracuse. He was married to Ruth Rugen, who died earlier.
He was a farmer and insurance agent for 41 years. He enjoys fishing and gardening.
He has two children, Donna Embry and Duane Rugen, both of Sedalia; and four grandchildren.
