Miller-Singer engagement

The families of Anna Miller and Jared Singer announce their engagement.


The future bride is the daughter of Jane Miller, of Columbia, and the late Richard Miller. She is the stepdaughter of Delores Miller, of Montgomery City.


The future groom is the son of Keith and Janet Singer, of Green Ridge.


The future bride, a 1999 graduate of Montgomery County R-2 School, received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture business management from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is working toward a master of arts degree in education at the University of Central Missouri.


The future groom, a 1998 graduate of Green Ridge High School, received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He works for the USDA as executive director of the Saline County Farm Service Agency in Marshall.


A June 14 wedding is planned at the Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City.

Smoking paraphernalia
What is your opinion on the law prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernalia, including small water pipes or glass pipes?
Because the majority of these items are sold for smoking illegal substances, the law should ban them all.
The law that prohibits the sale of these items if the seller knows they will be used for drugs is too vague and should be repealed.
People should be able to buy whatever smoking paraphernalia they wish.
Police officers should find a better way to spend their time than arresting people for violating these types of laws.
The law is the law, and as long as it’s on the books, police officers should enforce it.
