Former Lyceum artistic director wins award

SUFFOLK, Va. — Michael Bollinger, the former artistic director of the Lyceum Theatre in Arrow Rock, won a Sunnie Award from The Suffolk (Va.) Sun newspaper on Dec. 31.

The Sun wrote: “Michael Bollinger, former director of the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, for leading the city’s arts venue through its growing pains while bringing in top national comedy, musical, dance and dramatic artists. In addition, before he departed, he tapped into his love for live theater and was the force, along with a cadre of volunteers and pros, behind the venue’s first major community theater project: a splashy, fun and entertaining musical production of “Peter Pan,” complete with 75 local and professional performers, Broadway-worthy sets and costumes and a main character who actually flew!”
