Lillian O. Rimel, Tipton

Lillian Opal Rimel, 91, of Tipton, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Tipton Oak Manor.


She was born Nov. 22, 1916, in Cooper County, a daughter of Frank and Anna Rogers Watring. On July 3, 1940, in Prairie Home, she was married to William Rimel Sr., who died July 2, 1995.


She was a member of Fortuna Baptist Church for several years. She later became a member of Tipton Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Society. She worked at Stride Rite Manufacturing. She helped deliver for Meals on Wheels.


Surviving are two sons, Robert Rimel, and his wife, Phyllis, of Tipton, and Herb Rimel, and his wife, Kathy, of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Rimel, of Lincoln; two brothers, Jay “J.A.” Watring, of Tipton, and Jerry Dean Watring, of Fortuna; a sister, Ruby Knipp, of Tipton; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.


He was predeceased by a son, William Rimel; five brothers, John, Ed, Jewel, Jim and Jack Watring; and three sisters, Mildred Thomas, Annie Hirst and Maggie Kline.


Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton, with the Rev. Paul Posey officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Baker, John Rimel, Drew Rimel, Aaron Rimel, Justin Rimel and Tyler Williams. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.


The family suggests memorial contributions to hospice.
