Carter-Thurman engagement

Mike and Suetta Carter, of Green Ridge, announce the engagement of their daughter, Megon Carter, of Green Ridge, to Erik Thurman, of Lancaster, Calif. He is the son of Larry Thurman, of Lancaster, and the late Jeanene May Sperry-Thurman.

The future bride, a 2002 graduate of Green Ridge High School, received a bachelor of science degree in dietetics and minors in business and biomedical sciences from Missouri State University in Springfield in 2007. She received a master of science degree in nutrition from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in 2009. She is a registered dietitian at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

The future groom, a 1997 graduate of Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, attended UCLA. He received a bachelor of science degree in psychology with a minor in literature from University of Maryland University College in Adelphia, M.D., in 2009. He graduated from Defense Information Systems in Fort Mead, Md., in 2010. He is a public affairs journalist for the Army in El Paso.

A March 24 wedding is planned at the Executive Conference Center in Springfield.
