Northwest students help veterans

Sixth graders at Northwest Elementary School sponsored service projects for the entire school and raised $1,071.32 for veterans at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

Janell Castle, elementary counselor pictured behind the students, and Courtney March, sixth-grade teacher on the far right, and students delivered the check, went on a tour, visited, handed out greeting cards and sang a song to the veterans.

Students raised the money through a hat day, teacher jean days, a penny war and a winter
carnival.
