Big stars to visit The Midland

KANSAS CITY — The Midland in downtown Kansas City in the Power and Light District will host a variety of musical entertainment over the next month.
Rick Springfield with Low Standards will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 22. Springfield, best known for his 80s hit “Jessie’s Girl”, has released a new album called “Venus in Overdrive.” Tickets range in price from $37 to $77.

The Smashing Pumpkins will take the stage at 8 p.m. Nov. 24 with its 20th anniversary tour. Tickets cost $49.50.

Willie Nelson, with special guest Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters, will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 26. Nelson will perform numerous songs from his first blues album “Milk Cow Blues.” Tickets cost $35 to $100.

Comedian Dave Attell, with Kenan Thompson and Rob Riggle, will entertain audiences at 8 p.m. Nov. 28. Attell has made numerous appearances on “The Late Show” with David Letterman and “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. Tickets cost $39.50 to $45.

Al Green will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 29. Green was known as an rhythm and blues star in the early 1970s, but has concentrated on gospel music since 1976. Tickets cost $29.50 to $69.50.

The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis will take the stage at 8 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3. Selections from the new CD “Christmas Celebration” will be debuted. Tickets cost $35 to $97.50.

Trace Adkins will perform with Craig Morgan at 8 p.m. Dec. 4. He is known for his country songs including “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” and “You’re Gonna Miss This.” Tickets cost $35 to $59.50.

Al Jarreau will perform with Take 6 at 8 p.m. Dec. 12. Tickets cost $29.50 to $59.50.

Wynonna will present “A Classic Christmas” at 8 p.m. Dec. 19. Tickets cost $30 to $55.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 for Jewel, who will perform at 8 p.m. Jan. 28, and for B.B. King, who will perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 14.
Jewel tickets cost $25.50 to $65.50. B.B. King tickets cost $57.50 to $250.

Smoking paraphernalia
What is your opinion on the law prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernalia, including small water pipes or glass pipes?
Because the majority of these items are sold for smoking illegal substances, the law should ban them all.
The law that prohibits the sale of these items if the seller knows they will be used for drugs is too vague and should be repealed.
People should be able to buy whatever smoking paraphernalia they wish.
Police officers should find a better way to spend their time than arresting people for violating these types of laws.
The law is the law, and as long as it’s on the books, police officers should enforce it.
