Sophomores to 'Never Trust a Man'
LA MONTE — Members of the sophomore class at La Monte High School will present the play “Never Trust a Man” at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 in the new gym. Tickets cost $5 for adults and $4 for students.

Knob Noster to light up
KNOB NOSTER — The Knob Noster Chamber of Commerce will host the downtown lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 21. A visit from Santa is expected and a carol sing will help provide the proper mood. After the lighting, a chili supper will be in the Knob Noster fire station.

Quality Hill Playhouse to present ‘Christmas in Song’
KANSAS CITY — Quality Hill Playhouse will celebrate its 10th anniversary of presenting holiday cabaret with “Christmas in Song” Nov. 21 to Dec. 28.
Previous song performers LeShea Wright, Brandon Sollenberger and Elaine Fox will join pianist and emcee J. Kent Barnhart.
The program will feature Christmas classics including “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “The Christmas Song” and “Winter Wonderland.” The second act is devoted to gospel selections.

Lake of the Ozarks to host holiday market
LAKE OF THE OZARKS — The second annual Holiday Market at will be Nov. 21 and 22 at Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark.
Seventy artisans from throughout Missouri will be at the show. Wearable art, jewelry, pottery, home decor items and a variety of gifts will be available for purchase.
The market will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 21 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 22.
All admission proceeds go to the Lake Area Christmas for Kids.

Annual gingerbread house contest begins Friday
ST. LOUIS — The second annual Lydia’s House Gingerbread House Contest and Auction will begin Nov. 21 at Plaza Frontenac in the upper level near Bissinger’s.
Gingerbread houses will be set up. The event brings together executive chefs from restaurants, bakeries and universities to compete with their edible, handmade interpretations of this year’s theme “Holiday Movie Moments.” The creations will be on display through Dec. 12.
Shoppers may bid in a silent auction of the houses, with proceeds to benefit programs of Lydia’s House, an organization dedicated to ending domestic violence. The judging will take place Dec. 7.

Candlelight homes tour planned in Weston
WESTON — The 2008 Candlelight Homes Tour “Weston Homes Through the Ages” will be Nov. 21 to 23.
Tours will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 21, noon to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 22 and noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 23.
Homes on the tour include an antebellum home with history that dates back to Daniel Boone, an 1850 antebellum loft and a Victorian home.
New to the tour is the designer holiday house. This Queen Anne home will be offered at no charge.
Tickets cost $25 for evening tours and include hors d’oeuvres and drinks at O’Malley Pub plus a silent auction. Two hundred tickets are available each night.
Tickets for the Saturday afternoon tour is $10. The Sunday tour is for groups of 10 people or more. Ticket prices will be structured according to the group size.

Get "Seussical" at the Coterie
KANSAS CITY — “Seussical” is being performed at the Coterie Theatre on level one of the Crown Center Shops now through Dec. 28.
Audiences will find the plots of “Horton Hears a Who” and “Horton Hatches the Egg” interwoven. Although jeered by others, Horton takes on the quest to save the tiny planet of Who and at the same time attempts to protect Mayzie’s abandoned egg.

Holiday tea set for Saturday
The Sedalia Chamber of Commerce will host “A Cup of Christmas Tea” at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 22 in the women’s waiting room at the Katy Depot, 600 E. Third St.
Tickets cost $17 and include a cup of Christmas tea and finger foods. “A Cup of Christmas Tea” will be read.

Tour, toy exhibit planned in Columbia
COLUMBIA — A Holiday Tour and Toy Exhibit will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Maplewood House.
The house will be decorated for the holidays and furnished with toys and activities dating from 1877 to 1930s. Music, shopping and children’s activities will fill the museum. For more information or to make a reservation, call the Walter’s Boone County Historical Museum at 573-443-8936.

Craft show set in Cole Camp
COLE CAMP — The 21st annual Cole Camp Christbaumfest Craft Show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 22 Lutheran School Gym and Jaycee Hall.
About 50 crafters will sell a wide variety of handmade crafts, ceramics, jewelry, paintings, Christmas ornaments, baked items, jams and jellies. Admission is free.
The Cole Camp Chapter of FBLA will serve lunch in the Lutheran School Cafeteria. Soup, sandwiches, desserts and drinks will be available for purchase.
Santa will pose for pictures with children from 1 to 3 p.m. in the gymnasium. Professional photos will be taken by Vincent Fox and may be purchased for a nominal cost.
The Chamber of Commerce’s 2008 collectible ornament, featuring Yeager Union Church, will be for sale.
Cole Camp’s antique and specialty shops and restaurants will have their holiday open house. Adding to the festivities will be the erection of the Christbaum (Christmas tree) in front of the Handel Haus in downtown Cole Camp at 11 a.m.

Nativities to be displayed at Presbyterian church
MARSHALL — More than 300 nativities from around the world will be on display from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 22 and noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 23 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 710 E. Yerby.
Four choirs will perform. Visitors may shop in the nativity store featuring olive wood items made in Bethlehem. A silent auction with one-of-a-kind nativities will take place.

Smoking paraphernalia
What is your opinion on the law prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernalia, including small water pipes or glass pipes?
Because the majority of these items are sold for smoking illegal substances, the law should ban them all.
The law that prohibits the sale of these items if the seller knows they will be used for drugs is too vague and should be repealed.
People should be able to buy whatever smoking paraphernalia they wish.
Police officers should find a better way to spend their time than arresting people for violating these types of laws.
The law is the law, and as long as it’s on the books, police officers should enforce it.
