Windsor to celebrate Moonlight Madness

WINDSOR — The Windsor Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the annual Moonlight Madness Celebration on Nov. 29 in downtown Windsor. The theme is “The Songs of Christmas.”

The lighted parade will begin at 6 p.m. Santa Claus will lead the parade down Main Street and turn on the city holiday lights. All parade entries must be lighted. Parade registration forms are available at Merryfield Pharmacy, Windsor Furniture, on the Chamber’s Web site at www.windsormo.org or by calling BJ Friedly at 660-647-3113.

After the parade, the chamber will be giving away hams and turkeys at the Christmas tree at the four-way stop. Tickets for the giveaway may be obtained at the Chamber office at 102 N. Main St. the night of the event and are free. Only one ticket per family is allowed and winners must be present to receive their prize.

Downtown will be filled with crafts, concessions and activities. Santa Claus will be at Santaland at the city annex on Benton Street.

Businesses will compete for the most outstanding window decoration. The winner receives a traveling plaque to place in its business for a year.

The 2008 Toy Tractor Show in Windsor will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Windsor High School commons area. The Windsor 4H Club and FFA are sponsoring the event. Admission is $2 for adults. Children 8 and younger are admitted free. Christmas gifts will be for sale. A farm layout competition will also take place. Christmas in the Park opens at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at Farrington Park. The display will be open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 29 and 30 and Dec. 5 through 26.

Santa Claus will be in the park each night to hand out candy canes. The displays are set up by businesses, organizations and individuals.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

Smoking paraphernalia
What is your opinion on the law prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernalia, including small water pipes or glass pipes?
Because the majority of these items are sold for smoking illegal substances, the law should ban them all.
The law that prohibits the sale of these items if the seller knows they will be used for drugs is too vague and should be repealed.
People should be able to buy whatever smoking paraphernalia they wish.
Police officers should find a better way to spend their time than arresting people for violating these types of laws.
The law is the law, and as long as it’s on the books, police officers should enforce it.
