Fair names winners of cooking competitions

Winners were announced in Sunday’s Missouri Conservation Agents Association Wild Game, Fish and Nature’s Harvest Cook-Off.

In the wild game and fish category the winners were: Carol Brewer, of Raymore, first place for her “Cheesy Venison Torte Italia”; Candi Lordo, of Lampe, second place for her “Table Rock Tacos”; and David Robb, of Sweet Springs, third place for his “Catfish Stuffed Tomatoes.” 

In the nature’s harvest category, featuring fruit, nuts and mushrooms the winners were: Maxine Griggs, of Sedalia, first place for her “Persimmon Pudding”; Faye Hunton, of Sedalia, second place for her “Black Walnut Pie”; and Carol Brewer, of Raymore, third place for her “Black Carrot Cake.”

In Saturday’s Tyson Chicken Recipe Contest the winners were: Stacy Robb, of Sweet Springs, first place for her “Chicken Artichoke Dip”; Pat Finkes, of Steelville, second place for her “Good Eatin’ Wings”; and Maxine Griggs, of Sedalia, for her “Apricot Pineapple Kabobs.”

In Saturday’s Superintendent’s Adult/Youth Team Pie Contest judges awarded first place to Maxine Griggs and Chelsa Rozier, of Sedalia, for their “Peachy Blue Pie”; second place went to Braelyn Caple, of Calhoun, for her “Blackberry Apple Pie”; and third place went to Kim and Blayne Vogel, of Marshall, for their “Peach and Blueberry Pie.”
