The University of Central Missouri will host a multimedia concert Tuesday as part of its Earth Day observance.

Marideth Sisco and the Blackberry Winter Band with photography by John Hess will present an instrumental performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hart Recital Hall at the UCM.

The band, which is known for its work in the Oscar-nominated movie “Winter’s Bone,” features folk and Ozark hill music. The live performance will include original and traditional tunes.

Hess, biology professor emeritus of UCM, will provide a backdrop of his natural images ranging from panoramas to microscopic photos.

For the past 40 years Hess has developed his artistry through photography. His work has been influenced by photographers such as Edward Weston, Ansel Adams and Eliot Porter. He has been awarded an artist-in-residence position at Rocky Mountain National Park and Mesa Verde and recently published his first book.
