In recognition of the American Civil War Sesquicentennial, “The Civil War in Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas” exhibit is on display all this year at the Visitor Contact Station at the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Van Buren.
“The exhibit explores the causes of the Civil War, the Midwest geography of its rivers and the Ozark Highlands effect on the war’s strategies, and the personal impacts on the Ozark civilians caught in the middle of two warring armies,” Superintendent Bill Black said in a news release. “The exhibit is especially a valuable tool for teachers and school youth studying the Civil War in the surrounding area”.
