The Sedalia Police Department recovered more than $10,000 worth of stolen furniture and antiques after an informant tipped officers off to the stolen items’ whereabouts.
According to reports, on July 9 a Sedalia resident filed a report that their house has been burglarized numerous times and antique furniture and glassware had been stolen. A few days later, an informant told officers they knew the items were located at a residence in Raytown.
With the help of detectives with the Raytown Police Department, SPD detectives made contact with the suspects at the residence and recovered a U-Haul truck loaded with the stolen goods. In addition, officers recovered another full-size van load of stolen items.
Reports indicate the persons in possession of the stolen items were “not entirely responsible” for the theft. Detectives are continuing the investigation.
