SFCC students offer tax service
State Fair Community College students are providing free tax preparation for the public through a program called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
The students have been certified by the IRS and can prepare and electronically file both federal and state tax returns for anyone whose income does not exceed $55,000 per year.
Students are available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to noon Fridays through April 16 in Fielding Technical Center Room 226A on the Sedalia campus or by appointment. Individuals must provide an ID or Social Security card, a W-2 form and other paperwork needed to file a tax return.
For more information or to make an appointment, call instructor Kelly Russell at 530-5800, ext. 7441. Russell supervises and reviews all returns prepared by the students.
