A Fulton man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident at 10:40 a.m. Saturday in Cooper County.

Donald D. Downey, 54, was driving north on state Route 5, five miles south of Boonville when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the left side of the road, hit a ditch and was thrown from his motorcycle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Downey, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries.

Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
