Motorists in central Missouri may soon notice the preparations the Missouri Department of Transportation is making for the possibility of flooded state routes.
According to a news release from MoDOT, crews have started preparing routes that will serve as detours if major highways near the Missouri River flood in the mid-Missouri area. Crews are installing posts and placing the detour signs on the ground in these locations, so they can be quickly positioned should floodwaters cause closures.
