Warrensburg police kill man after serving search warrant
Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating an officer-related shooting in Warrensburg that resulted in the death of a 57-year-old man, according to a Warrensburg Police Department news release.
At approximately 10:50 p.m. Thursday night, members of the WPD Special Emergency Operations Team (SERT) attempted to serve a search warrant on a home located at 406 Ninth St. while looking for narcotics, paraphernalia and firearms, the release states.
As officers entered the home they encountered the 57-year-old man armed with a shotgun. The man fired the shotgun at officers, who returned fire, killing the man.
No officers were injured in the exchange and the identity of the man has not been released.
WPD requested the matter be investigated by MSHP troopers.
