Benton soil, water meeting set

The annual Cooperators and Friends Meeting celebrating 42 years of the Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District will be an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the USDA Service Center in Lincoln. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served for lunch.
At 1 p.m., the 2012 Outstanding Cooperator of the Year  and the Grassland Farmer of the Year awards will be presented.
Also this year will be the election of two of the supervisors for the county. This includes Area I (Northwest Benton County), which is the position currently held by Joseph Reser. Reser is seeking re-election and is opposed by Ray Schenewark and Jay Heetland.
In Area III (Central Benton County), Larry Nelson and Tom Black will vie for the position currently held by Keigh Johnson.
Voting will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
