Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 and the Sedalia Career Center will host a fall veterans’ job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the VFW at 121 S. Ohio Ave. This is the second fair the post has hosted this year.
All current or honorably discharged veterans including National Guard and Reserve service members and their spouses are invited to attend. Veterans should bring a copy of their DD-214. A service officer will be available to help veterans with benefits. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will host a chili supper for participants and employers.
Terry Beas, a veterans employment representative with the Sedalia Career Center, suggests attendees bring a resume or a list of past employment and dress in business attire. Those who are looking for a management position should wear a suit or slacks and a shirt with a tie. People looking for line-assembly type work should wear casual slacks and a nice shirt.
Employers set to attend include First Student, the Sedalia Police Department, Missouri Department of Corrections, Tyson Foods, At Work, Diversified, Bankers Life, WireCo. World Group, Division 7, GE, Cargill plant in Marshall and Route 66 CDL & Apprenticeship Inc.
Employers who would like to attend may contact Beas at 530-5627.
Veterans who are seeking information about the job fair may call Gary Gill at the VFW at 826-4543.
