State Fair Community College will sponsor a professional development workshop May 21 called “The Importance of Outdoor Play” that discusses how important outdoor time is for a child’s health, social skills, imagination, gross motor skills and behavior.

The seminar, designed for parents, childcare providers and community partners, will meet from 6-8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Celebration Center, Believers classroom, 1701 W. 32nd St. The cost is $5.

The session will discuss how today’s technology, busyness of life and fear for a child’s safety may be getting in the way of a child’s time outside.

Participants who complete this seminar will earn .2 continuing education credits (CEUs) (two clock hours).
