The pigs at Sage Croft Farms, of Higginsville, are now certified as Animal Welfare Approved. This certification and food label lets consumers know the animals were raised using sustainable agriculture methods on an independent family farm.
According to a news release, farmer Heather Laudie certified with Animal Welfare Approved because it fit with her practices and long-term goals for the farm.
