Our View: Clean Sedalia panel offers solid solutions

Posted: Friday, August 24, 2012 8:43 pm | Updated: 3:55 pm, Tue Aug 28, 2012.

The Citizens for a Clean Sedalia Committee has spent the past several months examining code enforcement matters that have become thorny issues for city officials and residents alike.

On Thursday, the panel finalized its eight-point recommendation for the City Council, which will be delivered during Monday’s council work session. As reported by the Democrat’s Emily Jarrett, the committee will urge the city to change the height requirement for grass and weeds from 12 to 8 inches; expand the definition of rubbish to “furniture and appliances originally manufactured for indoor use shall not be used in an outdoor setting”; and take rubbish violation appeals from the court system to the Code Enforcement Department.
