State Fair Community College will host the Missouri State High School Activities Association District 14 music festival Friday and Saturday on the Sedalia campus.
Students from 30 area high schools will present more than 550 vocal and instrumental solos, duets, trios and small ensemble performances over the two days. Performances are scheduled from 3:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Yeater Learning Center and Stauffacher Center for the Fine Arts.
Admission is free.
About 900 students, plus teachers and parents, are expected on campus. About 30 SFCC music student volunteers will assist with the festival.
Performances will receive ratings from one (superior) to five (poor). Solos and ensembles earning superior ratings will qualify for the state festival in April at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
