Saturday's LCAA Art Auction postponed

Due to furnace repair at the Liberty Center, the annual Liberty Center Association for the Arts Art Auction has been postponed from Saturday to a date to be determined.

The new date will likely be in the late spring or early summer, LCAA director Terri Ballard said.

“We literally had the furnace guy in here today, and we’re doing some building work and finishing the refresh upstairs,” Ballard said on Tuesday. “We’ve got so many things going on, so we decided in the spring or summer we’ll do a ‘Come and see our new look,’ one big event.”

That event will combine the auction with the announcement of the 2012-13 theater season.

Ballard said ticket-holders should get their money reimbursed at the Liberty Center, 111 W. Fifth St., because ticket prices might change for the rescheduled event.

The LCAA will keep the roughly 40 pieces of donated art on hand until the auction.

“Most of the artists we talked to said we could hold their pieces till the actual auction, and it maybe allows more time for those who couldn’t contribute a piece,” Ballard said.
