Skynyrd out of concert lineup due to singer's illness; Doobies still on

Due to lead singer’s Johnny Van Zant illness, Lynyrd Skynyrd will not play on Friday at the Missouri State Fair Pepsi Grandstand, according to band representative Nicole Hauer.

The Doobie Brothers are still scheduled to perform, fair marketing director Tammie Nichols said on Wednesday afternoon. The fair is working out other details about the concert.

According to lynyrdskynyrd.com, Van Zant was hospitalized last weekend due to a staph infection. Doctors advised him to take at least a week off from performing.
