Warrensburg native True to perform piano recital
The University of Central Missouri Department of Music will host Warrensburg native Carolyn True in the first of a series of six piano recitals featuring faculty, alumni and award-winning students at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 in Hart Recital Hall.
Admission is free.
True, a 2001 UCM Distinguished Music Alumna, will perform a program including an arrangement of Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” as well as works by Rachmaninoff, Barber and Bach.
True is a member of the music faculty of Trinity University in San Antonio. She performs and teaches throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. She has won the Texas Music Teachers Association’s Collegiate Teacher of the Year. She is a member of the SOLI Chamber Ensemble and the Beckman-True Piano Duo. The duo’s first CD was released in 2011.
True earned degrees from the Eastman School of Music, the University of Maryland-College Park and the University of Central Missouri. She has been a prize winner in national and international competitions and was the recipient of a Rotary Foundation Scholarship for study at the Conservatoire National de la Musique in Lyon, France.
