Hippocrates sure had it right when it comes to elderberries.

Hippocrates, 460 BC, considered to be the Father of Medicine, first called elderberries a “medicine chest.” Hippocrates was one of the first to treat a patient with emphasis on strengthening and building up the body’s natural resistance to disease. He felt that a physician should treat the whole body and any imbalance to restore health, rather than treating just one part that might be diseased.
