Donors make postal carriers’ annual food drive a success
Thank you to The Sedalia Democrat, Sedalia News Journal and KDRO and KSIS radio stations for helping to get the word out about the recent National Association of Letter Carriers food drive.
To all who contributed to the 11,000 pounds of food collected in Sedalia, thank you especially. There were 6,200 pounds collected in Clinton and more than 900 pounds collected in Knob Noster.
All food collected stays in the local community to help those who need it to survive. Thanks also to all of the active letter carriers, rural carriers, retired carriers, other postal employees and family members who helped collect the food, and to the volunteers from the Salvation Army and Open Door who helped at the post office to unload and weigh the donations then get the food to the food pantries.
Thank you to Bing’s grocery for the food donation to feed the volunteers at the post office.
There are many in need in our community. Some have experienced unexpected medical or vehicle repair expenses and need short-term help. Others depend on the food pantries to stretch their limited or fixed incomes. There will always be a need for the services provided by the Salvation Army and Open Door in our community.
Your continued generous support will help so many in our community that too many of us never see. Thank you for all your generosity. I look forward to coordinating the Sedalia community efforts for next year’s food drive and encourage all to provide support throughout the year whenever asked.
