As a citizen of the U.S. and a voter, I am concerned that the political climate in the country is divided to the extent that I fear for the republic. I believe the voters need to pay a whole lot more attention to the candidates and their knowledge of government function.
I have observed, talked with, and read what our Congressional representative Vicky Hartzler has said during the past two years. I am appalled at her lack of knowledge of how the government operates. It’s as if she failed high school civics. Hartzler, at her town hall here in Sedalia, could not answer either Republican or Democrat questions, always falling back on discussion of the national debt for which she had a chart to refer to. And as for correspondence from her Washington office, she and her staff answer only those questions on which they have Republican think-tank information.
