Bowles wins VFW essay contest
Haley M. Bowles, a senior at Sacred Heart High School, received first place in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy essay contest on Dec. 20 at VFW Post 2591.
Bowles accepted the $500 cash prize accompanied by her father, Bryan Bowles. She also received a certificate and a plaque from Jim Ellis, committee chairman, and Barb Erickson, co-chairwoman. Her essay took third place in the district competition in Holden
